Our founder, Kokichi Mikimoto, pursued the beauty of pearls and diamonds with unwavering dedication. In 1911, he sent his most skilled artisans to Antwerp, Belgium, to study advanced gemstone processing techniques. They returned with closely guarded innovations, diamond polishing machinery, and platinum craftsmanship that had never before reached Japan. By embracing European technology ahead of its time, Mikimoto helped shape the future of diamond jewellery in Japan.
We source our diamonds while taking into consideration the ethics, human rights and the environment.
Due to our belief that the beauty of diamonds lies not only in their sparkle but also in their ethics, we do not source conflict diamonds. In our effort to take responsibility when procuring our diamonds, we adhere strictly to the Kimberley Process and the System of Warranties.

Mikimoto’s deep history with pearls has always worked alongside our involvement in the unique development of diamonds. To complement the shimmering allure of pearls, we incorporate a wide range of fancy diamond cuts into our jewellery. These include the classically sophisticated kite cuts, as well as the rose cuts, which allow the light to gently penetrates the diamond, giving it a radiant aura. Every diamond serves as a symbol of Mikimoto's commitment to excellence.
